Hillary Rogers

Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce will present Restaurant Week in Haverhill this summer.  The 10-day-long celebration of dining out and keeping it local will feature Haverhill eateries ranging from coffee shops, to pizza shops, pubs and special date-night restaurants.

“Haverhill has the best restaurant zone north of the North End and I’m thrilled to work with the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce to promote Restaurant Week in Haverhill,” said Mayor James Fiorentini. “I have wanted to do a restaurant week in Haverhill for years, so I’m excited the Haverhill Chamber is going to take this on.

Restaurant Week is scheduled for Aug. 17 to 26 and is designed to promote the variety of restaurant offerings available in Haverhill. It will be a week of great values, good times and gastronomical adventures, chamber officials said.

“We’re hoping to have participating restaurants offer menu specials consisting of prix-fixe selections and prices,” said Hillary Rogers, membership and marketing manager for the Haverhill Chamber. “The idea is to create opportunities for all types of food establishments to participate.”

If you are interested in getting involved or want more information, contact the chamber at Info@haverhillchamber.com or call 978-373-5663.

Gerald & Alyssa Schiavoni

Merrimack Valley Eats

Merrimack Valley Eats was founded in 2017 by Gerald & Alyssa Schiavoni. Tired of the bias and less than genuine reviewing platforms, they created a group of friends, family, coworkers, and whoever wanted to join could talk about the venues they loved and find new places in the Merrimack Valley or within travelling distance — the Schiavoni’s created Merrimack Valley Eats. Growth was slow and it was only friends and acquaintances at first. At the turn of 2018, the Facebook group was at 247 members, and it has since ballooned to nearly 8,000 members and is growing daily. It’s become a resource for people with the love of food, and the hope to better restaurants we have grown an awesome community of members who enjoy sharing all their favorite places to eat and hidden gems we wouldn’t normally find. We strive to better the food community and bring people together through a language that everyone loves, FOOD. We take the good with the bad and try to foster relationships between patron and owner in hopes of gaining trust and building better relationships from the top of management down to the patron. Our hope is that with our group and website that we can really discuss things instead of bashing the livelihood of people that could use constructive feedback to do better if needed. We all know how one bad Yelp review can really hurt a business. Positivity inspires more positivity, and it is something we feel that we need in the community we live in.
